WatchHop is a product of WATCHHOP LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company ("we", "us"). It is built to be private by default. Your subscriptions, watchlist, shows, teams, and budget live on your own phone. You can use the whole app without ever creating an account.
The short version: we do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not use third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDKs. We only store your data in the cloud if you choose to create an account so it can sync across your devices.
Everything you enter stays on your phone unless you sign in. That includes: the services you subscribe to and their prices, your monthly budget, shows and movies you like or add to your watchlist, titles you mark "not interested," the teams and leagues you follow, your viewing preferences, your rotation plan, and your reminder settings.
This on-device data is not visible to us. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
If you create an account to back up and sync your data, we store two things with our backend provider (Supabase): (1) your email address and a securely hashed password used to sign you in, and (2) a copy of the app data listed above so we can restore it on your other devices.
We never see your password — it is hashed by our authentication provider. We do not use your synced data for anything other than syncing it back to you.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Account → Delete my account). Deleting your account permanently removes your synced data from our systems.
If you fill out the in-app survey, your answers are saved to help us improve the app. If you are signed in, they are linked to your account; if not, they are stored without identifying you.
If you send feedback, it opens your own email app to send a message (and any screenshots you choose to attach) to us. We only receive what you send.
To show posters, descriptions, ratings, prices, and sports schedules, the app looks up titles and teams from these providers: The Movie Database (TMDB), OMDb, Watchmode, and ESPN. These lookups send the title or team being requested (and, as with any internet request, your device's IP address) to those providers. They do not receive your identity, your subscription list, or your account.
Our backend and account sync are provided by Supabase. This Product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Ask WatchHop is an optional feature that answers your questions about your plan. When you ask a question, we send that question — along with the details from your plan needed to answer it (such as the services, shows, and teams you follow) — to our AI provider, Anthropic (the maker of Claude), to generate a reply.
We do not send your email address, password, or account identity with your question. Our AI provider processes your question only to produce an answer and does not use it to train its models. Please do not type sensitive personal information (such as passwords or financial account details) into your questions.
Free accounts include a set number of AI questions each month. We keep a simple count of how many you have used — on your device, and on our backend if you are signed in — solely to apply that limit. The count resets at the start of each month.
If you turn on reminders, the app schedules notifications locally on your device (for renewals, cancellations, and games). These are generated on your phone — we do not run a server that pushes messages to you, and we do not track whether you open them.
The app only accesses your photos if you tap to attach a screenshot to feedback, and only the images you pick. It does not browse or upload your photo library.
Some "sign up" and "get this service" buttons are affiliate links. If you subscribe to a service after tapping one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Tapping a link may pass a referral tag to that service's affiliate program; we do not send them any personal information about you.
To understand how the app is used and where it can be better, we log a small number of anonymous product events — such as opening the app, finishing setup, viewing the upgrade screen, or tapping a sign-up link. These events are tied to a random, per-install identifier, not to your name, email, or account, and they never include your subscriptions, shows, prices, or any personal details.
This is first-party only: the events go to our own backend (Supabase). We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles. You can turn this off in the app, and when it is off nothing is sent.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not show ads. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
On-device data stays until you remove it or delete the app. Cloud data (if you have an account) stays until you delete your account, after which it is permanently removed from our systems.
WatchHop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use reputable providers and standard protections to safeguard your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the “effective” date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app.
